Palmer Ranch is a 7,000± acre master planned community with over 30 individualized neighborhoods. The development of the area is fueled by contemporary planning with environmental sensitivity, dating back to its purchase in 1972. The history of the area is special, as it was originally purchased in 1910 by Mrs. Bertha Potter Palmer, a remarkable businesswoman.
Mrs. Palmer purchased 80,000 acres after first visiting Sarasota and naming it “the most beautiful place in Florida.” After her death in 1918, a good portion of her land was preserved as State parks, in honor of her love of nature. In 1972, Mr. Culverhouse purchased 12,000 acres of her land and began the road to Palmer Ranch as we know it today.
Palmer Ranch residences range from affordable condos and single-family homes to multi-million dollar houses. Each neighborhood has unique amenities, while the Palmer Ranch community has bike paths, golf, and parks to name a few. Palmer Ranch is a short drive to Siesta Key and Casey Key, with easy access to downtown Sarasota, downtown Venice, and the interstate.
