The awards keep coming! First, it was Best Beach in America by TripAdvisor. Then, U.S. World and News Report ranked Sarasota the #1 Place to Retire in the U.S.

Now, Sarasota’s quartz sand and beach-chic culture grabbed the attention of writers at Time Magazine, landing our city on this year’s list of 100 Greatest Places!

Time Magazine Names Sarasota Among the World’s Greatest Places 2021

Each year, editors at Time Magazine put together a list of the 100 greatest places to travel and explore. It is a global list, with a diversity of locations that span our world’s most unique and vibrant locales.

This year the list includes places like Athens, Berlin, and Dubai. The list is stacked from top to bottom with exotic villages, historic cities, and dreamy getaways—and we think Sarasota fits in perfectly.

Sarasota and the Growing Gulf Coast Scene

“Miami has long held the reins on all things young and hip in Florida,” writes Brad Japhe on Time.com. “But there’s something special percolating along the once sleepy Gulf Coast these days.”

Hailed as a “vital cultural capital,” Sarasota is celebrated for its diversity, art scene, picturesque landscapes, and of course its red-hot real estate market.

The Bay, an upscale mixed-use project that will redevelop 53 acres of prime Sarasota waterfront into condos, restaurants, and boardwalk, is slated to begin later this year. Twenty minutes inland, the sprawling community of Lakewood Ranch recently became the Nation’s #1 selling community. Just as far to the southeast, Wellen Park—the largest master planned community in America— offers a wide range of homes, amenities, and activities for people of all ages.

Diverse communities, upscale amenities, and convenient access to other Gulf Coast staples like Tampa and Naples. It’s no wonder Sarasota is the 2nd most common place Americans are moving to in 2021.
